Segment 3: Reading Exercise: Principles and Guidelines of Basic Education
The “Principles and Guidelines of Basic Education” were originally published by the Austrian Ministry of Education to serve as the basis of trainings for basic education. It summarises the approach and its most important tenets.
Read the “Principles and Guidelines of Basic Education”. Try to think about your own work up to now or the work you expect to do in the future and reflect on the following questions:
- What in the text is new to you? If so, do you agree with it or what reservations do you have? If you agree with it, what conclusions do you think you can draw for your work practice?
- What did you already know? Is this already part of your work practice? If so, how do you see it implemented?
- What concepts are you unsure about or you do not feel like you fully understand them? Where do you see a need for further clarification?
- What competences do you think you require to implement this concept?
Please note down your reflections. The reflections should be brought to the first session to be handed in to the lecturer or should be sent in prior. Reflections do not need to follow a fixed format, but should try to stay concise and coherent and avoid being excessive in length. Lengthy reflection can be done and is encouraged, but in such case, structuring the conclusions for the task also serves as a valuable reflection and learning process.
